Rainforest conservation
Being located on a 1000 h tourism concession surrounded by a 9000 h conservation concession, our activities include the protection and monitoring of this extensive area of rainforest.
Nature appreciation
Most villagers nearby are cacao farmers, Brazil nut collectors, and loggers. We like to share our love and appreciation for the standing forest and its wildlife in its pure state with the children and inhabitants of the region by inviting them to spend time with us on the lake, in the forest and on the canopy tower.
Macaw nesting
Macaws are seen daily from the lodge and the lake. We provide artificial nests for them, as naturally occurring nests are one of the limiting factors for reproduction due to the logging of large trees in the Amazon. Contact us if you like to sponsor a macaw nest.
Learning from the Indigenous communities
Living and working with the Machiguenga is incredibly enriching. They are true forest people who live in total harmony with the forest and zero carbon footprint. To us they are an inspiration and we encourage our guests to experience some special time with our Machiguenga hosts.
GLOBAL BIG DAY
In collaboration with CORBIDI we are participating in the GLOBAL BIG DAY with the local community
Otter monitoring and conservation
Having a resident group of Giant River Otters living in our lake is a privilege. We monitor the activities and dens of our special inhabitants.
CORBIDI Research Station Las Piedras
Corbidi students and researchers are using Lago Soledad as a research center when needed. A bird census study to evaluate the effect of climate change is under way.
